PAIN FROM FURLOUGHS, ANGST FROM BUDGET

We have begun our furlough ridden Spring.  It’s not easy.  The effects of three payless days permeating our bi-weekly paychecks come at a time when our Commissioners are reminding us that “there will be more cutbacks in this next fiscal year”.  Still the politicians, newspapers and radio talk shows drone on about “those evil public employees”.  It is an election year, after all!   This is the mantra that gets the publics attention.  The cheap shots.   Read more »

- $3mill from DCR, - $2.6 mill from MHD Snow & Ice, -$14mill from Group Care, +$1.8 mill to Family Stabilization, +$3.9 mill to Regional Lead Agencies, -$11.4 mill from DDS, -$3.7 from Community Day Care (DDS), -$1.5 mill from Fam. Respite Care (DDS), +$11.7 mill to Transitional Assistance, -$3.4 mill from DYS, +$9.1 mill to Veterans Services, Pensions are funded by Gov., House, & Senate. Read more »

FURLOUGHS FOR MASS DOT DELAYED UNTIL AFTER 7/1/10

Furloughs for MassDOT NAGE Members are not expected to take place until after 7/1/2010.  This is due to the complex nature of the law changes and contract negotiations still taking place with the Commonwealth and the many unions representing MassDOT divisions/agencies/entities.

HEALTHY WORKPLACE BILL (SB-699) TESTIFIED TO

On wednesday, January 27th, Professor David Yamada, myself and five other citizens testified before the Joint Committee on Labor and Workforce Development in favor of passing the “Healthy Workplace Bill” (Senate Bill 699, a SEIU/NAGE Bill Sponsored by Senator Joan Menard and written by Professor David Yamada, Suffolk Law).
