WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU CAN NOT DO IT ALL?

Your job description (job classification description) lays out the broad responsibilities of your immediate job. Your Form 30 further refines and defines your duties to your specific job or role within the agency. The Form 30 should have been mutually developed and signed by you and your supervisor.

Speak with your nearest Steward or call SEIU/NAGE for guidance. Of crucial importance is the need to avoid being “insubordinate” by refusing to do the work assigned to you. Call your nearest union representative for assistance.

Write a polite and succinct memo to your supervisor and/or group manager stating that “There exists a very great possibility that I will not be able to fulfill all of my job assignments. The impact of these most recent job assignments may be…………”  You should request the assistance of management in determining the priority by which you are to carry out your new, additional assignments.” Keep copies of this memo/letter. Remember: document everything!  Keep copies of your old Form 30 and your new Form 30.

You have the right to view and to request a copy of materials in your personnel folder. See Contract Bargaining Agreement (CBA) Article 24, Personnel Records.
